The Dallas Cowboys have had one of those seasons that NFL teams dream about. They had their division locked up earlier than expected. They also have home field advantage for as long as they stay in the NFC playoffs.
So why, then, does this team that has everything hold so much pressure coming into today’s game against the Giants. That question can be answered in several different ways.
First off, the Cowboys are the last game of the weekend. The two favorites in yesterday’s games won, and the Colts have the lead at halftime against the Chargers. If the Colts hold on to win, that would meant the Cowboys would have the pressure of being the last of the favorites to play this weekend. It has been a long time since all four favorites won in this round of the playoffs.
Then there is their quarterback, Tony Romo. He chose to spend his off week vacationing with his new girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. While most quarterbacks in the middle of a playoff run would be working out or studying film, Romo chose to hang out on a beach.
The last reason the Cowboys are feeling pressure is their opponent. The Giants play in the Cowboys division and the two are hated rivals. Dallas has already beaten the Giants twice, and it is hard to beat a team three times in one year.
So the stage is set for the Cowboys, and it is up to them to show whether they can perform, or if they will be swept under by the bright lights.
